R-value is a measure of thermal resistance—the higher the number, the greater the insulating power. The required or recommended R-value depends on your climate zone and the specific area of your home (attic, walls, floor, etc.).

Common types include fiberglass (batts or loose-fill), cellulose, mineral wool, and spray foam (open-cell or closed-cell). The “best” type depends on the application, budget, and desired R-value/air-sealing properties. Read more via our Services link.

Yes. Insulation slows heat transfer, but it often does not stop air movement. Air sealing is crucial to prevent drafts and air leaks, which can significantly compromise the performance of the insulation.

Yes, certain types of insulation (like cellulose or open-cell spray foam) offer sound-dampening benefits.

It depends on the material. With spray foam, it is often recommended that occupants and pets vacate for a specified re-entry period (sometimes 24-48 hours) due to fumes during and immediately after application. Other types, like fiberglass batts or blown-in cellulose, may not require you to leave.

This may include clearing the area (especially in an attic), and often includes air sealing critical leaks before the insulation is installed.

Sometimes old insulation is removed, particularly if it’s damp, damaged, or contaminated. In other cases, new insulation is simply installed over the existing material.

We accept all major credit cards, checks, and electronic funds transfer (EFT).
